  Anti-depressant Use Saves Lives. Twenty-seven years of follow-up data from typical patients show that anti-depressant use reduces the risk for suicide attempts and deaths.

Depression is a Family Affair. Patients whose families received information and problem-solving education to reduce stressful family interactions had lower relapse rates at 9 months.

Promising News for Treatment Resistent Depression.  Researchers are finding positive results using ketamine, a non-monoamine-neurotransmitter agent in the possible treatment of depression.

 Use Food As Medicine! Foods that will boost your brainpower: Blue berries, chocolate, spinach,peppers, onions, parsley, clery, citrus fruits, and soy foods.  The key ingredient they have in common is flavonoids.  It is thought that consuming food high in flavonoids may protect the brain from memory loss, improve cognitive functioning, and slow the mental decline that comes with age.  Mom was right when she told us to eat our fruits and veggies.

.Having Trouble Making New Habits?  Researchers report that it takes an average of 91/2 weeks and maybe even several months to form a new healthy, habit.  Missing a couple of days of repetition doesn't seem to stop progress.

How do you see the world?  Do you have nice things to say about others or are you negative?  Research suggests that if we view others negatively, we tend to be disagreeable, antisocial, and narcissitic.  Those who view people positively tended to be more agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally stable.  Interestingly, women are more positive that men.
